On Sunday, June 12th our Norfolk Priory community hosted a lively event called “Dessert With the Sisters.” For many weeks and months leading up to it, our Sisters lovingly prepared desserts to share and crafts to sell in order to raise money for our Sisters in India. This is part of our ongoing effort to help our Sisters in India get a new minibus for their transportation needs.
From the moment the doors opened, cheerful and eager guests joined us for the afternoon. Plants, quilts, knitted/crocheted items, and other homemade goods flew off the tables at a rapid pace. Many of the Sistercrafters were there to answer questions about their creations and our Missionary Benedictine life. Sr. Paula Leick, OSB eagerly showed shoppers her special wine holder bags as Sr. Gabrielle Marie Oestreich, OSB helped other shoppers admire her quilts. Sr. Kevin Hermsen, OSB described her process of alcohol painting and encouraged people to take home a new plant. Just down the hall, Sr. Cecilia Polt, OSB and her helpers explained the complex and holy process of creating rosaries out of rose petals
Once our guests reached the cafeteria, they were met with wonderful hospitality provided by our Sisters and our oblates. With a wide variety of tasty treats, guests met friends old and new. They shared memories of our deceased Sisters fondly and learned about the mission work of the Sisters today. We are grateful for all of the work, seen and unseen, that went into making Dessert With the Sisters 2016 a big success for the glory of God
